Which political issues are you most passionate about?

My main issue would be politics itself, I believe that its not only young people but all people that aren’t listened to or fairly represented. I believe politics nowadays is a shamble and that political parties and their affairs take over the decision making. It should be about what representatives believe are best for people not just what your party thinks, this is why I’m so thankful UKYP solely represents young people and doesn’t get involved in party politics… therefore giving young people a voice is personally my biggest issue.

What do you feel is the biggest issue for young people in your constituency?

My biggest issue personally doesn’t really reflect my constituency as in my constituency it's either unreliable public transport or university tuition fees.

What do you hope to achieve during your term of office?

I hope to help young people get their voices listened to, and even to make a huge difference to local young people would be great! But realistically even a small difference would be great, last year we came sooo… close to a transport concession card that next financial year I really want to push it to be successful.

What is your future career ambition?

I’m not too sure at the minute, I wouldn’t mind politics but on a local level, as I’ve said already I think national politics isn’t for me. Also I wouldn’t mind being a midwife or a youth worker.

Which public figure do you most admire and why?

NELSON ROLIHLAHLA MANDELA – Despite many years in jail, he emerged to become the country's first black president and to play a leading role in the drive for peace in other spheres of conflict. He won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1993.

If there was one message you could send to the government, what would it be?

That young people are so valuable and have very good opinions, they should be listened to a lot more and they need to be better represented in government. UKYP is here to do that and they should make more use of that fact. Also that political parties don’t work, its not your party's views you should be fighting for, it should be the views of your constituents.
