Which political issues are you
most passionate about?
The political issue which I believe has strong significance currently in the UK is the war, which is taking place between America and Iraq. However, British soldiers are fighting in this war; as a result hundreds of British soldiers have died and no significant change has been made in Iraq, so what was the aim of this war?
Secondly, this war has not been justified and I strongly believe it was not necessary. From recent news I now know the root cause of the war is being investigated, many people want answers to why the war began. Lastly, thousands upon thousands of pounds have been spent on this war, which could have been spent on education, youth facilities... etc.
What do you feel is the biggest
issue for young people in your constituency?
One of biggest issues is the portrayal of young people; they are shown in a negative manner by the media, through the local newspapers, radio stations and television. I believe a neutral environment needs to be found were the young and old get along with one another; giving the elderly a sense of security. I have gathered this knowledge from my experience of volunteering in an elderly home.
What do you hope to achieve during
your term of office?
I hope to make the environment a happier place for young people by enrolling FREE public transport or by reducing the current prices of transport. I aim to introduce the London ‘oyster card’ transport system, where young people get free access on buses and trams and get reduced prices on trains.
What is your future career ambition?
My future career ambition involves making a difference not just to my constituency but to all constituencies across the UK. I would like to be involved in politics and represent all ethnic minorities, as we are a part of the UK. Moreover I strongly believe everyone deserves a voice!
Which public figure do you most
admire and why?
A public figure I admire is Barack Hussein Obama. During his term in office he has inspired many people, and changed the minds of thousands. Secondly, his work has been recognised and he has been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize, just after one year in office. He marks a sign of change between minorities and races.
If there was one message you could
send to the government, what would it be?
I believe the government should do more to listen to young people as it has been said time and time again that ‘we are the future’.
