Which political issues are you
most passionate about?
On a global scale, poverty is one of the issues that I am most passionate about. I recently travelled to Africa and during my time there I was shocked at the disgusting living conditions. I think that National governments and supra national organisations such as the EU have an obligation to help reverse some of these injustices which exist even in our 21st century world. Also, I am really passionately against unnecessary and selfish conflicts by western powers in countries such as Iraq and Afghanistan, where ultimately it’s the civilians who suffer.
What do you feel is the biggest
issue for young people in your constituency?
In my constituency there are two major issues; public transport (or the lack of!) and the issue that there aren’t enough things for young people to do in my local area. Public transport is a big issue too since it is very expensive and we currently don’t have any form of student discount for 16 and 17 year olds who have to pay an adult rate.
What do you hope to achieve during
your term of office?
I would really like to raise the profile of Youth Parliament in my constituency in a positive way and get lots more young people involved in it through local campaigns.
What is your future career ambition?
I would really like a job where I can travel all over the world and my ultimate goal is to be a lawyer for a huge international law firm so that I could achieve this!
Which public figure do you most
admire and why?
I most admire Margaret Thatcher since she was extremely brave and driven to become the first female prime minister and in doing so encouraged and enabled many more women to become involved in politics without worrying about barriers or ‘glass-ceilings.’
If there was one message you could
send to the government, what would it be?
Stop making fools of yourselves by wasting time and money indulging in ‘punch and Judy’ politics and instead affect some real and positive change for the people of this country who have voted for you!
