Which political issues are you
most passionate about?
I am passionate about the Union. Not the EU, but the Union of the 3 Kingdoms. Our nations survival as a major state on the world stage requires the unity of the isles and the idea that Scotland or Wales could (or should) ‘gain’ independence is not even worth considering, and as far as I’m concerned devolution was the greatest political error since Chamberlain’s policy of appeasement.
What do you feel is the biggest
issue for young people in your constituency?
The biggest issue is probably the cost of public transport, as most young people in my constituency are dependent on either the train or bus to go to school or “out”, and £8.00 for an under 18 to get a return train ticket to London is just not acceptable.
What do you hope to achieve during
your term of office?
I would like to raise the issue of public transport in my area, perhaps encouraging Transport for London to reduce the cost of transport, or encourage the local council to subsidise the cost.
What is your future career ambition?
Naturally my first choice of would be PM, or at least a minister. Should this fail, I would like to become a curator in a major history museum or news reporter for one of the three terrestrial channels.
Which public figure do you most
admire and why?
Living – Alexander Boris de Pfeffel Johnson, my favourite politician (and personality) who is likable, funny and (occasionally) sensible in his own pragmatic fashion.
Deceased – Sir Winston Churchill, an apparent stark contrast but his brilliant speeches and wicked wit make him similar to Boris, even if it is on a microscopic level (not forgetting the fact that he won WWII as well!).
If there was one message you could
send to the government, what would it be?
“Stop talking about green issues!” It seems climate change is everyone’s pet panic, but there are so many things which are of greater importance, and adding more tax on everything imported is not going to help in the long run. Also “lower transport costs!” (I like to think of myself as a delegate).
Additional comments:
I have nothing against the EU, I’m just not particularly passionate about it. As for climate change, I didn’t think making my passionate issue a negative point would be a good idea.
