Name: Chris Monk

Position: MYP

Constituency:
Northamptonshire

--------------------------------------------------------

Which political issues are you most passionate about?

The lack of influence we (young people) have over things that affect us. Because we can’t vote nobody seems to care what we think. As a Deputy MYP I will try to change this.

What do you feel is the biggest issue for young people in your constituency?

Transport because young people in my constituency feel that they are overcharged for the service they receive from the bus companies. They feel that adult fares should come in at 18, not 16.

What do you hope to achieve during your term of office?

I hope to represent everyone in my constituency equally and to ensure that their views are listened to and acted upon at all levels.

What is your future career ambition?

I would like to go into politics in the future as I feel that I would be able to make the most difference there. Failing that I would like go into law as I like arguing and would love getting paid to do it!

Which public figure do you most admire and why?

Warren Buffet, because he is going to give away all his fortune to charity but is not going to start his own foundation. This is an unusually modest step considering his immense wealth.

If there was one message you could send to the government, what would it be?

That even though we may not be able to vote now we will be able to in a few years time and that they may regret some of the decisions they have made.
