Name: Thomas Turrell
Position: Deputy MYP
Constituency: Northamptonshire
--------------------------------------------------------
Which political issues are you
most passionate about?
Education. I want to see education more fair for the lower and working classes as the curriculum is too middle-class biased at the moment.
What do you feel is the biggest
issue for young people in your constituency?
Youth press – too many young people are discriminated against in my constituency and the police blame them for crime. That’s why in April I criticised the local paper for running the headline “Yobs Continue Bin Fires”.
What do you hope to achieve during
your term of office?
More activities available for young people, last year when first elected my first act was to give a further £10,000 to the local youth café.
What is your future career ambition?
I would like to take a seat as an MP. From there I would like to be either Children’s Secretary, Home/Justice Secretary or Foreign Secretary. If given the chance I would like to be Leader of the Opposition and maybe even Prime Minister.
Which public figure do you most
admire and why?
There are two people I equally admire; there are John Major and William Hague. Hague because he is a true statesman who had a bad time and paid for it and Major because he wasn't some one who didn’t do well at school but still was Prime Minister.
If there was one message you could
send to the government, what would it be?
Young people are the future and need to be listened to, as well as pull out of the EU - it’s pointless.
