Name: Abari Funmi
Position: MYP
Constituency: Haringey
--------------------------------------------------------
Which political issues are you
most passionate about?
I'm not fully aware of them all.. that's why I got involved with UKYP! But currently it has to be the commotion around nuclear weapons and British troops in Iraq - the war is unjustified, British people's money sent to support the war - has not yet been justified, the purpose of sending British Troops to war is still not entirely justified... and if these aspects are not justified.. there should be no war! British taxpayers' money should be spent on improving the economic state of the country and invested to accumulate more money not sent to an empty pit hole of nothingness!!
What do you feel is the biggest
issue for young people in your constituency?
AFFINITY! Apart from family & friends, young people in Haringey question where they belong, the majority of us wander through acres of vacuity to find we are not accepted in our borough. For me this is the fundamental problem for young people, which incorporates the major issues such as negative media coverage, youth crime, youths out of education and gangs.
What do you hope to achieve during
your term of office?
Change.. is an obvious one I guess. But everything is not about evaluating an issue and changing everything around it.. It's about finding core problems/reasons and killing those weeds! and IMPROVING and making the little aspects of our lives that little bit better.
What is your future career ambition?
Honestly I have no clue, it varies from a medical surgeon to the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. The possibilities are endless.
Which public figure do you most
admire and why?
Barack Hussein Obama, not because he's black, because he's the President of the USA or because he's quite a good looking chap, but purely because of his democratic morals - a leader for the people, by the people...an inspiration to the people.
If there was one message you could
send to the government, what would it be?
Would they read it? I'd thank them for their successful political adjustments to the Country and thoroughly encourage them to include us instead of disregarding us youths, also to consider us in their decisions and when looking for public guidance, because we are smart, politically minded (well some way or another) and hey, we're Planet Earth's future!
Additional comments:
I love public speaking!
