Which political issues are you most passionate about?

The political issues I am most passionate about are the opening of more youth clubs around Northumberland and lowering the voting age to 16. I believe that the UK hugely benefits from the 16 year-olds who work and pay taxes. Thus, it is unfair that those who keep the country running are not allowed a say in the government.

What do you feel is the biggest issue for young people in your constituency?

In Northumberland I think that children are relatively well off compared to some areas. That is not to say there are no problems, but that in a rural area such as Northumberland, child crime is never going to be a major issue. However, I truly believe that Northumberland could be greater if the young people’s opinions were viewed, when it comes to important conclusions. The childrens’ views need to be taken into account when decisions are made.

What do you hope to achieve during your term of office?

I hope to address the issues that I have already mentioned such as lowering the voting age and establishing more youth clubs across Northumberland. Hopefully, by the end of my term, young people in Northumberland will have had their voices heard and respected.

What is your future career ambition?

In the future I hope to get good marks in GCSEs and A-levels. Then, I will go to university and maybe become a Journalist for a good national newspaper. Alternatively a career in politics seems an idea as well!

Which public figure do you most admire and why?

I do not generally admire only one certain public figure, but a number of them for different achievements in terms of music, sport, politics and other things. I believe that everyone should have their own personality rather than trying to be somebody else.I admire anyone who will stand up for what they believe in and let the world know about it.

If there was one message you could send to the government, what would it be?

My message to the government would be: Listen to us. Listen to the young people of this country and respect their views. If the government listens to the young people’s opinions, then they will have a valuable source of information, which can only benefit the country and the people in it.
