Constituency:Darlington

Which political issues are you
most passionate about?
I personally believe that there is such a wide array of political issues that affect the young people in my constituency and that it would be very difficult for me to pinpoint just one. However, I do feel very passionately about young people having a voice, as I believe that young people are often over looked when it comes to decision making and this is wrong.
What do you feel is the biggest
issue for young people in your constituency?
In my constituency I feel I would be extremely naive if I were to say there was just one issue affecting all young people in Darlington. Each school, area and friendship group has individual needs whether that be; lack of facilities, bullying, crime, expense of facilities, or many others. I believe we need to work together bridging the gap between different groups within the town to help young people feel happier within my constituency.
What do you hope to achieve during
your term of office?
So far, I have 5 main goals: Develop a town wide radio station; introduce a youth club/cafe in the centre of town;lower the cost of facilities; better advertising of events and promote positivity. However, I don’t want people to think this is all I hope to achieve as I believe the needs of young people are changing all the time.
What is your future career ambition?
At this point in time I haven’t precisely chosen a career path in which I hope to follow but, I am very interested in not only politics but journalism as well. Therefore, I would like to think a possible career as a political correspondent may be in the pipeline.
Which public figure do you most
admire and why?
I really admire the work of Hillary Clinton, not only because she is a woman attempting to reach heights, which no woman has ever been able to achieve before, but also because she has been through so much in the forefront of the public eye and still manages to battle on.
If there was one message you could
send to the government, what would it be?
Young people are tired of not being recognised for their achievements or listened to at all levels. I believe that this is on the verge of change!
Additional comments:
I just want to say a massive thank-you to all the young people that voted and I really do look forward to working with you all.
