Name: Joe Henry

Position: MYP

Constituency:
Lancashire

Which political issues are you most passionate about?

I am most passionate about raising awareness of drugs and alcohol misuse. I am part of the local Lancashire youth council drugs and alcohol workshop which aims to inform young people about the dangers and risks in Lancashire.

What do you feel is the biggest issue for young people in your constituency?

Well transport is a big issue in Rossendale but I would like to focus on young people getting a negative image in the media, as Rossendale has a couple of local newspapers and I would like to meet up with them and make a deal.

What do you hope to achieve during your term of office?

In my term of office I would like to send a questionnaire out to all high schools in Rossendale to see what young people want. I also hope to meet up with local newspapers to make a deal so they have to print at least three good stories about young people a week and write to all youth groups etc.

What is your future career ambition?

I really don’t know. I just want to get all the qualifications and GCSEs I can so I can go on to have a good job and get good pay.

Which public figure do you most admire and why?

That’s a very hard question. I don’t really have one but if I had to pick I would choose Mark Perks, the councillor for young people in Lancashire. He’s just a great guy and he stands for what young people believe.

If there was one message you could send to the government, what would it be?

Young people are the next generation you need to concentrate on them.
