Name: Marike Ruther
Position: Deputy MYP
Constituency: Trafford
Which political issues are you
most passionate about?
I feel very strongly about the quality of citizenship lessons in school. At my school, we have a very good standard of citizenship. We discuss human and children rights, equality and stereotyping (just to name a few). I believe we need to ensure all teachers are specialists in this subject.
What do you feel is the biggest
issue for young people in your constituency?
I consider the lack of facilities a problem for young people in Trafford. We need more facilities to meet up and spend time with our friends rather than gathering at street corners.
What do you hope to achieve during
your term of office?
I want to become more aware of how politics works and hopefully encourage others to participate and understand how we can change our situations.
What is your future career ambition?
I would like to either be a lawyer or a counsellor. Both of these jobs ensure that people get their human rights.
Which public figure do you most
admire and why?
I admire not just one person but anyone who makes a stand and helps bring about any change for the benefit of others.
If there was one message you could
send to the government, what would it be?
I would ask them to listen to the voice of young people and to take it into consideration when making decisions.
