Which political issues are you
most passionate about?
I am most passionate about global issues and the effort to protect and conserve our environment, which is why I think climate change is a vital issue to rally youth support behind. It is relevant to not just each constituency, but every person-young or old, on a local and international level.
What do you feel is the biggest
issue for young people in your constituency?
The issue I feel is in most need of addressing in Northern Ireland is the lack of facilities for deaf young people. More local support groups and youth clubs should be opened up to help deaf and hard of hearing speak and act for themselves rather than having to rely on hearing people to do it for them. With adequate funding I think this would help reduce the isolation of Deaf young people in my constituency.
What do you hope to achieve during
your term of office?
I hope to influence others on the significance of climate change because I feel it is certainly something that as individuals we can all certainly improve upon and I think that if I'm better educated on the subject through this campaign, then it will help alter my own lifestyle too.
What is your future career ambition?
I hope to study Philosophy with emphasis in English for my university degree and then do a post-graduate course in Journalism and hopefully enter into print media afterwards.
Which public figure do you most
admire and why?
Tricia Valladares, a youth worker, has been a big influence on me regarding globalisation and environmental issues and through a project over the 2007 summer she gave me the opportunity to challenge how far world’s leaders have come on reaching the Millennium Development Goals. So, I think a lot of my thinking and inspiration has come from her and for that I can only thank her.
