Name: Josh Chesterman
Position: MYP
Constituency: Swindon
--------------------------------------------------------
Which political issues are you
most passionate about?
I am really passionate about the media image of young people. It is unfair and not representative of everyone in Swindon. The ‘mosquito’ devices which aim to deter young people form hanging around places are also a concern of mine.
What do you feel is the biggest
issue for young people in your constituency?
The biggest issue Swindon faces is how young people are treated in the media. Transport is also a big issue. Swindon is the only place in the country where you cannot buy a return on the bus.
What do you hope to achieve during
your term of office?
I hope to work more closely with all forms of media to achieve a better representation of young people.
What is your future career ambition?
I would like to be a youth worker.
Which public figure do you most
admire and why?
I don’t admire a public figure because I feel it is those closer to you that matter. I admire the youth workers who have supported me during the last two years.
If there was one message you could
send to the government, what would it be?
I would say that they have to listen to their young people; after all it will be us voting in the future.
