Name: Alistair Harrison
Position: Deputy MYP
Constituency: Torbay
--------------------------------------------------------
Which political issues are you
most passionate about?
The Education Maintenance Allowance (EMA) system is my most passionate subject. I think that the way things are done is unjust and it needs to be refined so it is a fairer system for everyone.
What do you feel is the biggest
issue for young people in your constituency?
As with most places the biggest issue for us is the public transport. You would find it difficult to speak to one young person who is happy with how it is run.
What do you hope to achieve during
your term of office?
To make young people more respected, it is unacceptable how all young people are stereotyped and by changing things for the good in Torbay I want to show people that we can make a difference.
What is your future career ambition?
I want to be a journalist in the future, with a vested interest in politics.
Which public figure do you most
admire and why?
Oscar Pistorius, the South African double amputee who competes against able bodied athletes. I find his determination and ability to overcome the odds admirable.
If there was one message you could
send to the government, what would it be?
A government should be afraid of its people, not the other way round.
