Position: MYP
Constituency: Bournemouth
--------------------------------------------------------
Which political issues are you
most passionate about?
Equality within society. The media stereotype young people and we are not like that! We don’t all set things on fire and get drunk every night. We are the next generation and want some respect. Start saying about how well we do rather than what bad people we are! I am also passionate about money young people get for education. It is not enough!
What do you feel is the biggest
issue for young people in your constituency?
I believe money is a big issue for young people today as the society struggles with money anyway let alone being able to provide fair amounts of money to people across the country. For example, EMA and transport fares. Also, young people would love to have more activities to get involved in such as art projects and festivals. There are also limited amount of jobs for young people to get into easily.
What do you hope to achieve during
your term of office?
I would like Bournemouth to be a better looking place for young people and would like the young people to get involved with making this work. Also organising a lot of outdoor summer activities for young people to get involved in.
What is your future career ambition?
My ambition is to be a secondary school maths teacher. But to also carry on with youth involvement. Become a youth worker. I am a very big believer that young people are the society’s biggest asset as they are the future.
Which public figure do you most
admire and why?
I don’t necessarily admire one person but I admire companies such as the UNCRC (United Nations Conventions of the Rights of the Child) and CEOP (Child Exploitation Online Protection) just for the amount of people that are involved and all they want is the best for young people. They have such a passion in what they do.
If there was one message you could
send to the government, what would it be?
I think I would probably put forward the idea of letting the young people make the decisions for two weeks. See how much change we can real make nationally. I would ask them how much involvement they actually want the young people to have and how important they think young people are. And nicely ask for money.
