Which political issues are you
most passionate about?
Global warming, as it affects young and older people all over the world right now, and will continue to do so in the future unless we do something about it.
What do you feel is the biggest
issue for young people in your constituency?
In my constituency, the price of public transport is a problem we have needed to work on for a long while. An increasing problem in my area is hate crime, particularly racism; urgent work needs to be done to reduce this.
What do you hope to achieve during
your term of office?
I hope to reduce the cost of public transport by introducing a young people’s transport concession card to lower the cost of bus fares to a fraction of the current price. I also hope to introduce a standardised bullying policy to all schools in my constituency; reviewing the bullying policy in my school had remarkable effects so I hope to further this work.
What is your future career ambition?
At the moment I am looking into becoming a barrister or an MP, but I wouldn’t turn down the opportunity to do musical composition in my spare time!
Which public figure do you most
admire and why?
I admire a lot of people for particular traits – for example, Jeremy Clarkson for his little analogies and nerve; Angelina Jolie, for using her fame wisely and Michelle Obama for being the most glamorous first lady in a long while. The people I admire most are those who I know personally, I don’t think any celebrity could ever match that.
If there was one message you could
send to the government, what would it be?
Young people are just as entitled to be listened to as adults. Let us help you to make a positive difference that will help everyone; often, young people are better than adults at getting things done.
Additional comments:
Young people are not bad people. Those who get into trouble have often got other issues to deal with that the media do not understand. We need to be appreciated as citizens and helped where we need it, not written off as hooligans who just want to pick a fight.
