Position: Deputy MYP
Constituency: Birmingham

Which political issues are you
most passionate about?
I have passions for many things, my priorities change as appropriate, but at the minute they are:
- Transport in and around the West Midlands region
- Image of YP in the media
- Value the Vote (Current WM Regional Campaign)
As well as availability & quality of council housing for young people and the standards of IAG (information, advice & guidance) available to those aged 13-19.
What do you feel is the biggest
issue for young people in your constituency?
In my local constituency, I feel one of the biggest issues is the lack of things to do for young people. The area is also prone to graffiti; introductions of ways for people to express themselves artistically in a community-friendly environment is something that would make a massive difference to the general appearance of the area.
What do you hope to achieve during
your term of office?
In my term of office this year, I hope to implement significant changes to the way political education is taught in my constituency, as well as help perpetuate the "See the Good Behind the Hood" campaign. I hope to do other things as well, but these two are my main focus.
What is your future career ambition?
I hope to go into gallery curation as a future career, it is something that I can really apply my love of the fine arts to.
Which public figure do you most
admire and why?
I don't really have a public figure which I admire in such a way. People of inspiration pass us by every day, and I prefer to search out the extraordinary people in ordinary life rather than those suffocated with a spotlight. It is easy to do the right thing when people are watching, but to be exceptional in secret - that's admirable.
If there was one message you could
send to the government, what would it be?
The one message I'd send out to them is to just keep in touch with reality. A lot of MPs tend to have their hearts in the right place but since they've spent so long holed up in the House of Commons rather than with the people they're supposed to be helping, it just doesn't quite communicate.
Additional comments:
When you're involved in something as important as the UKYP, make sure you're doing it for the right reasons :) We are here to make a massive change and a big difference for young people so if your heart isn't in it, or you're just doing it for the title - give up and let someone who's really passionate about it take your place. This opportunity is too good to waste.
