Name: Tom Hulin

Position: MYP

Constituency:
Birmingham

Which political issues are you most passionate about?

The issues that I am most passionate about are violence in communities, how it affects young people and how to prevent it. I am also concerned about the lack of activities for young people in their local areas which I think impacts on violence in communities.

What do you feel is the biggest issue for young people in your constituency?

Violence amongst young people is a growing concern in my constituency and also there are no facilities locally for young people to socialise with their friends. I am also concerned about young people being put off going to university because of the massive tuition fees.

What do you hope to achieve during your term of office?

My campaign issue is ‘Violence in the Community’ so I am hoping to raise awareness of this issue and how young people get involved in violence and crime and how they can be deterred from doing so.

What is your future career ambition?

I would like to go to university and study politics or possibly drama. I am not sure about what career I would like to follow as yet but I would like to be involved in politics at some level in the future.

Which public figure do you most admire and why?

Barrack Obama because he has a position of massive responsibility but always appears to be cool, calm and in control which means that you have faith in him to do the right thing.

If there was one message you could send to the government, what would it be?

Can you really identify with the majority of people in your country that the decisions you make affect?
