Name: Bridie Sedgebeer
Position: Deputy MYP
Constituency: Shropshire
--------------------------------------------------------
Which political issues are you
most passionate about?
I am most passionate about equality, everyone should have a fair say no matter what their age, social background or wealth. This is why I am so behind the campaign to abolish university fees, because it is just not fair that our university system discriminates against people who are not extremely affluent.
What do you feel is the biggest
issue for young people in your constituency?
I feel that better sex education is important for Shropshire, even though our pregnancy figures are below the national average; young people still believe that they need better education on this subject and more accessible services for the young people.
What do you hope to achieve during
your term of office?
I hope to get my name known for making a difference. I would like by the end of this year for young people to remember my campaigns.
What is your future career ambition?
For the future I would like to work in the law – preferably in human rights, defending people who do not have a voice otherwise.
Which public figure do you most
admire and why?
I admire my father (I count parish councillor as public ) because he has influenced me to try for things and not to give up.
If there was one message you could
send to the government, what would it be?
I would tell the government to think about its young people, because they might not be able to vote at the moment, but soon they will, and their voices should be listened to.
