Name: Joe Hyde
Position: Deputy MYP
Constituency: Rotherham
Which political issues are you
most passionate about?
I am most passionate about sexual and relationships education. There are more pregnant teenagers every year and I feel young people need to know not just the basics, but the full details and consequences of bringing up a child at a young age. Also I am a very green person and I care for our planet. If we were to get the message to recycle into young people’s minds, we have a good chance of the adults listening to us as a whole.
What do you feel is the biggest
issue for young people in your constituency?
I feel young people in Rotherham face major issues to do with bullying. I myself sometimes feel intimidated by big groups of young people that can be sometimes abusive towards me. Most young people get bullied because of their sexuality. I know I cannot stop this from happening but I want to help so everyone can be treated equally.
What do you hope to achieve during
your term of office?
In my term of office I would like to be known for facing some of the many issues that young people come across today and help to improve Rotherham according to what young people feel needs changing. Also I would also like to learn a variety of new skills and put them into practice whilst in UKYP.
What is your future career ambition?
I would like to do something practical and have a successful business but also I wouldn't mind going into politics or maybe work on behalf of young people.
